Subcommittees

Prevention Committee
Chair – Sgt. William Redman, St. Joseph County Police
The prevention committee is comprised of DFCC members with the passion for working on the front end of the substance abuse epidemic and preventing use and abuse before it starts. Projects range from community and parent education and awareness to school-based education and media and marketing campaigns.

Criminal Justice Committee
Chair – Lt. Tim Williams, Mishawaka Police
The criminal justice committee members are those interested in criminal justice and equal enforcement issues in our community. In recent years, this committee has paired with the treatment committee to organize a conference.

Treatment Committee
Chair – John Horsley, Oaklawn
The treatment committee is comprised of treatment professionals driven to improve the quality and quantity of treatment services available in St. Joseph County. This committee has successfully organized and executed a treatment focused conference each year since 2004. The conferences have included a number of topics all geared to give the treatment/criminal justice professionals additional information, knowledge, tools and resources considered to be best practices in their field.

Strategic Planning/Membership Committee
Chair – Stacy Birk, DFCC Director
The Strategic Planning/Membership Committee is comprised of coalition members who want a voice in shaping the vision, goals and objectives of the Drug Free Community Council. This committee will be creating a new Comprehensive Community Plan (CCP) for 2012. This plan guides the LCC in planning programs and initiatives as well as guiding the grant process. The CCP is a requirement for all LCCs in the state and all funds granted from the local Drug Free Community Fund must meet objectives and goals in the plan.Additionally, this committee will work on membership initiatives such as creating educational materials on the coalition and recruiting new, diverse members to join our efforts.
